Wicked As They Come was a fabulous read that I could not put down!
“When Tish Everett forces open the ruby locket she finds at an estate sale, she has no idea that a deliciously rakish Bludman has cast a spell just for her. She wakes up in a surreal world, where Criminy Stain, the dashing proprietor of a magical traveling circus, curiously awaits. At Criminy’s electric touch, Tish glimpses a tantalizing future, but she also foresees her ultimate doom. Before she can decide whether to risk her fate with the charming daredevil, the locket disappears, and with it, her only chance to return home. Tish and Criminy battle roaring sea monsters and thundering bludmares, vengeful ghosts and crooked Coppers in a treacherous race to recover the necklace from the evil Blud-hating Magistrate. But if they succeed, will Tish forsake her fanged suitor and return to her normal life, or will she take a chance on an unpredictable but dangerous destiny with the Bludman she’s coming to love”

OK so in full disclosure here – I was NOT supposed to read this book (yet). It was nowhere near the top of my TBR pile due to various deadlines on other reviews. As a matter of fact I had not even added it to my “Currently Reading” list on GR. I grabbed this paperback on the way out the door to my son’s baseball tournament. It was hot out and the sun was beaming – which makes my Kindle hard to read on – so I snatched it on my out the door to have something to keep me busy during warm ups and between games. It was addicting and every time I tried to put it down to read something I was supposed actually be reviewing all I could think about was Wicked As They Come!!!
Wicked As They Come is book 1 in the Blud series.
Delilah S. Dawson captured something in this book. With elements of steampunk, magic, and paranormal you never knew what could be next! The world building was just..well…honestly fantastic just doesn’t quite cover it, but it will have to do. When Tish finds herself in this different version of our world filled with blood craving bunnies, blood craving deer, blood craving rats, and a blood craving Criminy she is not sure what to think. Criminy Stain was truly enchanting with his humor and magic I loved him from the beginning. The character building was nothing short of great as well. I loved the character growth – especially in regards to Tish. The humor seemed natural and I could see every character crystal clear in my mind. There is really nothing bad to say about this book period. I loved it. It had all the right elements! The cover in also worth a mention – as you can see. This cover fits the perfectly I cannot wait for #2 in this series!
I give Wicked As They Come 5 out of 5 Bullets!
