What kind of assassin works pro bono?

It’s hard to be a badass assassin when a giant is beating the crap out of you. Luckily, I never let pride get in the way of my work. My current mission is personal: annihilate Mab Monroe, the Fire elemental who murdered my family. Which means protecting my identity, even if I have to conceal my powerful Stone and Ice magic when I need it most.

To the public, I’m Gin Blanco, owner of Ashland’s best barbecue joint. To my friends, I’m the Spider, retired assassin. I still do favors on the side. Like ridding a vampire friend of her oversized stalker—Mab’s right-hand goon who almost got me dead with his massive fists.

At least irresistible Owen Grayson is on my side. The man knows too much about me, but I’ll take my chances. Then there’s Detective Bria Coolidge, one of Ashland’s finest. Until recently, I thought my baby sister was dead. She probably thinks the same about me. Little does she know, I’m a cold-blooded killer . . . who is about to save her life.

Jennifer Estep is keeping up the greatness in the third Elemental Assassin Series installment, Venom.   The Elemental Assassin series has some seriously addictive qualities and It has been quite some time since I have binge read (or listened to) a series with this much gusto!

Gin Blanco continues to kill people that flat out need it and protecting those she is now claiming as hers.  Much of this has become a parallel to her need to avenge her family.   Yet, this story is so much more than just a simple revenge and kill people story.  It has heart and soul and I have to say that not many authors can write endings as well as Jennifer Estep.  I have coined her endings as “bomb droppers”.  No fancy annoying cliff hangers, but somehow a little bomb is dropped at the end of every book.  I fucking love it.  I started out calling them “crumbs” but they are so much bigger.  It is like calling a wedding cake a crumb.

Gin’s new love interest is also adding an interesting and fresh dynamic.  I enjoy their banter and I can see he will pushing her outside of her comfort level.  Even the new interest comes with an interesting  back story and pieces Gin did not realize fit a bit into her own past.

Audiobook Thoughts:  Yep, no one does it better than Lauren Fortgang.  If you are thinking about picking up an audiobook and wondering where to start…start HERE.  Seriously.  Fortgang’s flawless abilities pull you into the story and her slight variations are just the right amount of smooth and unique.  Her pace is exactly what I expect and she never leaves anything out of her expressive voice.  Great narration all the way around!

All in all this quickly becoming a favorite series and I would say that I cannot wait to start #4, but I already have.  😉

I rate Venom 5 out of 5 Bullets!

I love Gin and I love this series. My favorite MCs have always been the kick-ass, bloodthirsty ones, and that pretty much spells G-I-N 😉 I’m glad you’re loving this series too!

This is one of my all-time favourite series in audio! Once I started listening, I just couldn’t stop. Luckily, Estep had already released 7 installments, so I got months of enjoyment out of it. And, it appears like you’ve also caught the Gin Blanco / Lauren Fortgang bug. Enjoy! 🙂
