Mercenary Kate Daniels knows all too well that magic in post-Shift Atlanta is a dangerous business. But nothing she’s faced could have prepared her for this…

Kate and the former Beast Lord Curran Lennart are finally making their relationship official. But there are some steep obstacles standing in the way of their walk to the altar…

Kate’s father, Roland, has kidnapped the demigod Saiman and is slowly bleeding him dry in his never-ending bid for power. A Witch Oracle has predicted that if Kate marries the man she loves, Atlanta will burn and she will lose him forever. And the only person Kate can ask for help is long dead.

The odds are impossible. The future is grim. But Kate Daniels has never been one to play by the rules…

Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews is the 9th book in the Kate Daniels series. Can just “WOW” be the caption here? Andrews is clearly an unstoppable force in Urban Fantasy.

I am going to start by saying that if you are new to this series and have not read the previous books, STOP what you are doing. Go to your nearest dealer of all things books, put the rest of your TBR pile on hold and begin this journey from the beginning. Do not try to cheat! Do NOT try to see “if you will like it” by starting now. Just, trust me on this. The build up in each installment of the Kate Daniels series is unprecedented and I cannot think of anyone out there that is doing this better. The ability to ultimately change the dynamic of so many characters and still have the series going stronger than before…just mind-blowing. There is really no other way to describe it.

Kate and Curran continue to amaze me. The authors have retained the main characters individuality, allowing them to grow independently, all while their relationship continues to evolve. It is truly not only a work of art, but the authors have some kind of literary voodoo going on. (I am sure of it. I would place my money on a soul exchange.)

Magic Binds dives deeper into the world of crazy, also known as Kate’s father, Roland. Kate always manages to think outside of the box and put others first, even while battling her own demons. Magic Binds did not disappoint and I enjoyed every word of every chapter.

You would think the best books would be the easiest to review, but that is so not true. The books like Magic Binds are truly the great challenge in reviewing, even after 4+ years. I have no holes to point out, no inconsistencies to whine about and I feel like I should just bow down and say “we’re not worthy”. READ THIS SHIT.

Fans will be at awe. You will laugh out loud. You will likely shed a tear. And maybe you will be like me and decide to start back at the beginning with Magic Bites in audio, just because.

Magic Binds gets a (rare) 5 out of 5 Bullet rating!
