Book Review ~ The Trouble with Ghosts by A.L. Kessler

Book Review ~ The Trouble with Ghosts by A.L. Kessler

The Trouble with Ghosts by A.L. Kessler is the 3rd book in her Here Witchy Witchy series. This series is a great read and The Trouble with Ghosts kept me up late and flipping serious pages. The Trouble with Ghosts is a great combination of mystery, magic and action. A mystery within mysteries had the hamster wheel turning and trying to figure out WHO DID WHAT? I try not to compare series to one another but Here Witchy Witchy does carry the feel of The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, without all the whining and selfishness. Abby is strong and… Read more »

Comic Book Review: CHEW (Vol 1 & 2)

Volume 1: Taster’s Choice Tony Chu is a detective with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is Cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he’s a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn’t mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why. He’s been brought on by the Special Crimes Division of the FDA, the most powerful law enforcement agency on the planet, to investigate their strangest, sickest, and most bizarre cases. Collects CHEW issues #1-5 Chew is a very character driven story. It is… Read more »

Book Review: Ajax’s Harpy Holiday by Mychal Daniels

Book Review: Ajax’s Harpy Holiday by Mychal Daniels

Ajax’s Harpy Holiday is the first book in Mychal Daniels Dragofin Clan Mated series. Ajax’s Harpy Holiday is a fun, original and entertaining read. Don’t pass this book up just because of the Holiday theme. I would have enjoyed this book any ‘ole time of the year, especially since I am sure a lot of us can relate to the holiday struggle of being alone, or lonely, at any point in time. Ajax’s Harpy Holiday falls on the sci-fi or fantasy side of dragons and gryphons, and although one would expect a funny and quick read, it truly was deeper… Read more »

Book Review: The Seer’s Secret by Mikea Howard

Book Review: The Seer’s Secret by Mikea Howard

The Seer’s Secret by Mikea Howard is the second book in their Diesel War Series. The Diesel War series is set in a gritty and unique setting filled with interesting and diverse characters….I want more! It was no secret that wasn’t a huge fan of the characters in the first book in this series, The Mechanic’s Mate. I was clear in the review, that the writing and world building totally pulled me in and that I was pretty sure it was just the dynamic of the relationship I wasn’t a fan of. I was right! The Seer’s Secret has a… Read more »

Book Review Bearskin from Wickedly Twisted: Fairy Tales for Adults

Book Review Bearskin from Wickedly Twisted: Fairy Tales for Adults

This review is for Bearskin by A.D. Roland. (One of the 5 stories in this anthology). Pan’s Curse is a sweet and unique paranormal romance story. It truly had a fairy tale feel to it and was reminiscent of the Beauty and the Beast, sans the kidnapping bit, and the Princess and the Frog. The Devil’s deal is never what one anticipates, right? I enjoyed the darkness of the main character, Valdus. I know that sounds odd, but I did. The light and dark mixture of the two main characters created a great contrast to the story. Enough backstory was provided about each… Read more »

Book Review: Redeemed by Rilic by Mychal Daniels

Book Review: Redeemed by Rilic by Mychal Daniels

Redeemed by Rilic is the fourth book in Mychal Daniel’s Olodian Alien Warrior series. Redeemed by Rilic is full of greatness with a brilliant story-line and come-off-the-page real characters! It is no secret that I LOVE sci-fi romance, but lately I feel like every book I pick up is sci-fi romance is pretty light on the actual story-line and overly focused on the sex. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy some heat in my sci-fi, but I need a STORY. I need real characters! Redeemed by Rilic did just that. It didn’t stop at SEXY. It delve into a new world and conflicts… Read more »
