Audiobook Review: The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

Audiobook Review: The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman has a special talent – writing creepy and not in the same way blood or gore are creepy. Gaiman does not need to use curse words or violence.  His true talent is recognizing the childlike fears we hold inside and creating a story that explores the depth of them. The Ocean at the End of the Lane is such a great example of this talent.  The innocent fears of an everyday child come alive in this shorter story about an impossible journey.  Impossible, yet completely brought to life through the eyes of a child.  That being said, this is not specifically a children’s… Read more »

Book Review Wolf At Law by Heather Long

Book Review Wolf At Law by Heather Long

Wolf at Law is a novella prequel to the Wolves of Willow Bend series and focuses on Ryan Hudsons- the pack’s attorney. Wolf at Law is Ryan’s story after he stumbles into his mate, Tiffany on a business trip outside of pack territory. This prequel added some real depth to currently released books.  I was surprised at how much exactly it did enrich the other stories.   There was something about the dire situation Tiffany was in and a true Prince Charming feel to Ryan in this story that I was not quite expecting.  Tiffany is desperately trying to get out of an abusive… Read more »

Book Review: Kodiak’s Claim by Eve Langlais

Book Review: Kodiak’s Claim by Eve Langlais

Kodiak’s Claim is book 1 in Eve Langlais’ Kodiak Point series.  This paranormal romance filled with shifter awesomeness and everything I enjoy in my PNR. Kodiak’s Claim is the definition of a page turner.  With a fast paced story line, quick witted humor, and a sweet happily ever after – Kodiak’s Claim hit the mark. The conflict between Tammy and Reid was just a lot of fun to read.  Tammy is supposed to be working a job in BFE Alasksa, and she works more than just the job while she is there!  I really did adore Reid’s personality especially coupled with his… Read more »

Audiobook Review: Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch

Audiobook Review: Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch

One of my goals this year was to pick up some established series that were on my TBR, but I had yet to get to.  So when I was searching Audible for my next listen and found Touched by an Alien, I instantly purchased it.  Touched by an Alien is Gini Koch‘s first installment in her Katherine “Kitty” Kat series. I loved this book.  A few times I felt a little panicky thinking it was going to go into the uber religious zone that I am so woefully uncomfortable with, but it did not go in that direction.  It definitely… Read more »

Book Review: Ready to Were by Robyn Peterman

Book Review: Ready to Were by Robyn Peterman

Ready to Were is book 1 in Robyn Peterman’s Shift Happens series.  This is the first book I have read from Robyn Peterman and I was tickled by her clever writing and humor. Not going to lie, this book had some great laugh-out-loud moments.   I loved the brilliantly designed characters and the conflict felt smooth.  Peterman dishes out the story like a sous chef and the result is delicious!    The chemistry between the main ccharacters Hank and Essie is really great and I love the twist on their relationship. Ready to Were also has a brilliant cast of secondary characters…. Read more »

Audiobook Review ~ Voodoo Plague by Dirk Patton

Audiobook Review ~ Voodoo Plague by Dirk Patton

Voodoo Plague by Dirk Patton is the first book in his VooDoo Plague series.  Voodoo Plague is an apocalyptic zombie read with lots of action! Voodoo Plague was an entertaining read, or listen in my case.  This action packed zombie story kept me entertained throughout.  I loved the dynamic between the two lead characters and their struggle to survive.  John Chase’s military backgrounded made for a very rich storyline that was artfully told. The downside to Voodoo Plague was a couple of huge cliches that were distracting from the story.  I know how hard it is to avoid all… Read more »
