Audiobook Review: By a Thread (Elemental Assassin #6) by Jennifer Estep

Audiobook Review: By a Thread (Elemental Assassin #6) by Jennifer Estep

By a Thread is Jennifer Estep’s sixth installment in her Elemental Assassin Series and she is not letting up.  With a main plot point solved in the last book I couldn’t help but wonder what was going to come next and By a Thread did not disappoint. By a Thread gives a bigger insight into some of Gin’s insecurities.  Jealously, anyone?  Some of her past inner fears surface and it was kind of a nice touch.  Gin is still Gin and proud of who she is, but we all have the little things we are deeply afraid of.  Estep does… Read more »

Book Review: Storm Force by Susannah Sandlin

Book Review: Storm Force by Susannah Sandlin

Storm Force by Susannah Sandlin was originally released in episodes as a Kindle Serial.  Storm Force is now available as a complete book.  I personally purchased Storm Force as a complete book. Sandlin can always pull me into a story, and Storm Force was no exception.  With a diverse cast of unique characters and one über terrible villain, Storm Force was a great paranormal page turner. Jack “Kell” Kellison added a new element to her writing.  With all of her previous books many of the characters have had some type of power, but now we get to see a hero that is a… Read more »

Book Review: Forgotten In Darkness (Scimitar Magi #2) by Zoe Forward

Book Review: Forgotten In Darkness (Scimitar Magi #2) by Zoe Forward

Forgotten in Darkness is Zoe Forward‘s second installment in her Scimitar Magi series.  You can read the review of the first book in this series, Dawn of a Dark Knight HERE. The pages of Forgotten in Darkness are lined with  Egyptian history, legends, and gods adding depth and unexpected twists to every page.  As we learn more about the ancient Magi and their history, I feel myself falling into the world with them.  Forward does an incredible job describing every character with their own uniqueness and quirks and this does not stop with just the protagonists.  The villain in Forgotten… Read more »

Audiobook Review: A Cast-Off Coven by Juliet Blackwell

Audiobook Review: A Cast-Off Coven by Juliet Blackwell

A Cast-Off Coven is Juliet Blackwell‘s second installment in A Witchcraft Mystery series.  You can check out the review for the fist book – Secondhand Spirits here. A Cast-Off Coven was an enjoyable story.  With high mystery elements and great characters the audiobook flowed nicely.  Juliet Blackwell does a great job executing her story.  She makes you feel like part of the action and I easily connected with the protagonist – Lily Ivory.  Lily is a highly likable character that ends up in the middle of some interesting situations.  Lily’s character had some great character growth in  A Cast-Off Coven… Read more »

Book Review: Micah and Mrs. Miller by Heather Long

Book Review: Micah and Mrs. Miller by Heather Long

Micah and Mrs. Miller is Heather Long‘s third installment in her Fevered Hearts series.  So the title pretty much states who this book follows, so I promise not to be redundant and tell you again.  😉 The back story and conflict in the Fevered Hearts series is brilliantly enchanting.  I love Long’s world concept with the Fevered.  Surviving a tragic illness and coming out with a special super power is both a traumatic and amazing outcome. Conflicts in Micah and Mrs. Miller are at an all time high.  The Cane’s and their community are under attack and they will do… Read more »

Novella Review: Chenoire (A Short Story) by Susannah Sandlin

Chenoire by Susannah Sandlin is short story that takes place out in Louisiana bayou.  You can check out the authors inspiration story HERE – you don’t want to miss this guest post!   I didn’t really think too much about what this book was about before I dove into it.  What I got was a brilliant surprise!  Sandlin submerges us with the sounds, smells, and tastes of true bayou feel.   She sprinkles in some paranormal and romance making it a great short story.  The characters were well defined in the short amount of time and I felt the story… Read more »
