Book Review: Queen’s Menagerie by MK Mancos

Book Review: Queen’s Menagerie by MK Mancos

Queen’s Menagerie by MK Mancos is the first book in her Crown and Country series. I didn’t know anything about this book going in, with the exception that it was steampunk. It turned out to be a great paranormal romance with a wonderful amount of mystery! Mordecai Pope is the reverse Alpha-hole. He was smart, sexy and a joy to read about. His kindness for others and loving nature created a breath of fresh air in a swarm of Alphas that are also assholes. Crown and Country takes place in a faux historical location and their views of women was… Read more »

Book Review: Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison

Book Review: Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison

In light of recent copyright infringements where author(s) took particular romance novels and re-purposed them into LGBT romances….I can see this book smoothly transition into a romance between two men.  Sadly, ever since that particular intellectual property theft case, every time I read a book now, I consider whether a book would still be good or better if it was gay romance. But seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed this book because there were secrets to discover and the story unfolds in such unexpected ways.  The story is set in an earth that includes magical races of people – the Elder Races. … Read more »

Book Review: Desert Wolf by Heather Long

Book Review: Desert Wolf by Heather Long

Desert Wolf by Heather Long is the 8th book in the Wolves of Willow Bend series. Desert Wolf follows the Sutter Butte pack and their razor sharp alpha, Cassius. This series has become my addiction for 2015. I love the characters in this series, especially the way Long is blending some of the different pack’s members together. Each installment contains such wonderful character growth and Cassius’ story was no exception. But lets face it, if you have read this series, you recognized he was going to be a hard character to connect to. Long did a great job building him up… Read more »

Book Review: Mind Magic by Eileen Wilks

Book Review: Mind Magic by Eileen Wilks

Mind Magic by Eileen Wilks is the 12th book in her World of the Lupi series. Lily and Rule face an unknown foe and we learn more about the dragons…so awesomeness all around! Wilks never seems to disappoint. With her strong world building abilities, I am one second from away from being convinced she is some kind of wizard world building genius. Creating vivid images and unique challenges for her characters after the twelfth book in a series is a hard thing to do. Pointing out things that should have been obvious, yet never occurred to me, makes me giddy… Read more »

Book Review: Unbinding by Eileen Wilks

Book Review: Unbinding by Eileen Wilks

Unbinding by Eileen Wilks is the 11th book in her World of the Lupi series. I am a long time follower of this series and Unbinding didn’t disappoint. One aspect about the World of the Lupi series that stands out as unique, is the authors ability to shift the story to other characters while maintaining a fluid story line. It doesn’t happen regularly, as most of this series does focus on the Lilly and Rule, but when she does it, it is done beautifully. It creates a new depth and allows us to break away from Lilly and Rule’s individual feelings… Read more »

Book Review: Wicked Ever After by Delilah S. Dawson

Book Review: Wicked Ever After by Delilah S. Dawson

Wicked Ever After is the fourth book in Delilah S. Dawson’s Blud series. This steampunk paranormal mix-up is set in a beautifully dark and unique world, but this installment left me a bit uneasy. Dawson did something that is not regularly done in paranormal romance. Wicked Ever After tied up not only the HEA, but their future was laid out as well. I cannot say TOO much about that without revealing spoilers galore. Dawson touched on Tish’s inability to reproduce in the first few books, but I don’t remember that being much of a focus, more like a driving force to… Read more »
