Review of Diminished (Winter’s Wrath Book 2)

Review of Diminished (Winter’s Wrath Book 2)

Wow…that is this book summed up in one word. I loved this book! Oh I was yelling and cursing Bianca Sommerland’s name a few times during it, but that is part of what made it so good. I laughed, I cried, and I screamed as there is a little bit of everything wrapped up in Diminished. I would suggest reading Backlash before reading Diminished, it would make the reading so much better as there are events that happen in Backlash that you need to know going into Diminished. Brave is an ass, this opinion is carried over from Backlash…. Read more »

FanExpo Dallas ~ What do YOU want to know?

The time is almost upon us! FanExpo Dallas is only 10 days away and I am woefully unprepared. Pieces of my cosplay are truly..pieces. That means it is TIME. Time for the panic that seems to ignite motivation in my veins and fire in my heart!  It is also time to decide which celebrity will make the final cut into my photo-op budget. The budget is slim, my friends! *bites nails* And finally, it is time to decide which comic artists I want to seek out and obtain work from or have them sign current comics I own and/or see… Read more »

Restored by Gordin

Restored by Gordin

Another GREAT story by Mychal Daniels! I was hooked from the beginning and did not put this one down. Dr. Ellery Chambers had some horrors in her past which we only saw the beginning to in book 4. This book starts off before the last ends and part of it runs parallel to it without a lot of repetition, just the same timeline. There were some very dark moments in this book BUT there were also moments that had me laughing. Gordin, who is the Emperor, finds himself drawn to Ellery and finds his match with her, but he is… Read more »

Book Review: A Pirate’s Curse by ML Guida

Book Review: A Pirate’s Curse by ML Guida

A Pirate’s Curse is the first book in M.L. Guida’s Legends of the Soaring Phoenix series. This is a very difficult review for me to write for two reasons. The first reason is simple, parts of A Pirate’s Curse were awesome and I loved it. Second, the protagonist was confusing and my dislike for just about every aspect of her character was a challenge for me. A challenge I was unable to overcome. I am going to unleash the conversation about what was great, I am starting with the positives! Pirates. Vampires. An intriguing backstory regarding a demon with a conscience was… Read more »

Book Review: The Reburialists by J.C. Nelson

Book Review: The Reburialists by J.C. Nelson

The Reburialists was like mother-fucking Indian Jones meets Caitlin Snow. With the bonus of Egyptian mythology added in. The Reburialists is a trifecta of awesome that made my geeky heart pitter patter and sing joyous songs. I might have broke out into song or dance, ok that it’s a lie..or is it? If your blinking in confusion so far, this might not be the book for you. I think the cover is a bit serious for the overall tone of this book, which even with all of the reanimated bodies and death, it still held a pretty light tone. Or maybe… Read more »

Evangelizing the Genre

OH NO! Religious nut! – No, I’m complaining about the evangelizing of the genre, not the gospels, and my point should be clear that I feel that ALL forms of human expression have value in the course of human history – even paranormal romance.  I am a historian, so I feel qualified to make that statement.  My name is Crystal and I’m new here at bookedandloaded.com.  I came on board with the review staff over a month ago, but it has taken me all of this time to rekindle my inspirational writing flame – to get back in touch with… Read more »
