Book Review ~ The Trouble with Ghosts by A.L. Kessler

Book Review ~ The Trouble with Ghosts by A.L. Kessler

The Trouble with Ghosts by A.L. Kessler is the 3rd book in her Here Witchy Witchy series. This series is a great read and The Trouble with Ghosts kept me up late and flipping serious pages. The Trouble with Ghosts is a great combination of mystery, magic and action. A mystery within mysteries had the hamster wheel turning and trying to figure out WHO DID WHAT? I try not to compare series to one another but Here Witchy Witchy does carry the feel of The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, without all the whining and selfishness. Abby is strong and… Read more »

Book Review of One Fell Sweep by Ilona Andrews

Book Review of One Fell Sweep by Ilona Andrews

One Fell Sweep is a free serial available at Ilona Andrews’ website http://www.ilona-andrews.com, then conveniently formatted in ebook form and published to the masses. Honestly, I am completely willing to scream TAKE MUH MONAH for it to be all nicely formatted and put on my kindle. I also really love the warm and fuzzies I get knowing that I supported an author that provides me an escape. Opening One Fell Sweep takes you to strange lands with wonderfully diverse characters. Slipping into One Fell Sweep is easy and feels like home. Every new book in this series makes me fall in love… Read more »

Book Review ~ Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs

Book Review ~ Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs

Silence Fallen is the 10th installment in Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson series. This is a series I have followed since the beginning and waaayyyy before this site ever existed. It is a series that I will continue to read, but the last few books are just missing the pizzazz that the beginning of the series held. Silence Fallen starts off exciting and the author takes us abroad, swiftly changing the tone and adding in new characters. I thought this new expedition would bring back some of the excitement, but I feel that the lack of of a new over-arching plot… Read more »

Release Day Review of Dragon Spawn by Eileen Wilks

Release Day Review of Dragon Spawn by Eileen Wilks

Dragon Spawn by Eileen Wilks is the 13th book in her World of the Lupi series. This series is still going strong and the world building is truly astonishing. Dragon Spawn is roller coaster ride of a read. This series is one of my favorites and I always start to get nervous when one of my favorite series is pushing over 10 publications. I start worrying about things like (because these things HAVE HAPPENED MANY TIMES): Q: Will the author lose her way? A: SHE DIDN’T   Q: Is the story going to start failing to hold the high standards… Read more »

Book Review: Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews

Book Review: Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews

Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews is the 9th book in the Kate Daniels series. Can just “WOW” be the caption here? Andrews is clearly an unstoppable force in Urban Fantasy.  I am going to start by saying that if you are new to this series and have not read the previous books, STOP what you are doing. Go to your nearest dealer of all things books, put the rest of your TBR pile on hold and begin this journey from the beginning. Do not try to cheat! Do NOT try to see “if you will like it” by starting now…. Read more »

Book Review: The Reburialists by J.C. Nelson

Book Review: The Reburialists by J.C. Nelson

The Reburialists was like mother-fucking Indian Jones meets Caitlin Snow. With the bonus of Egyptian mythology added in. The Reburialists is a trifecta of awesome that made my geeky heart pitter patter and sing joyous songs. I might have broke out into song or dance, ok that it’s a lie..or is it? If your blinking in confusion so far, this might not be the book for you. I think the cover is a bit serious for the overall tone of this book, which even with all of the reanimated bodies and death, it still held a pretty light tone. Or maybe… Read more »
